| DAICEL chiral chromatography are products identified by the registered trademarks CHIRALCEL®, CHIRALPAK® and CROWNPAK®.DAICEL chiral HPLC columns, the most widely used and referenced chiral chromatography product in the world, are available from our Company in a wide range of sizes for applications ranging from analytical methods and quality control to preparative scale separations.
Daicel provides pharmaceutical and related industries with enantiomeric separation products and services. The company develops and supplies Daicel® chiral columns for High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) systems which are used in numerous applications, including analytical, preparative and pilot scale separations. Daicel also develops and supplies bulk chiral stationary phase media for process scale chromatographic separations.

The Daicel Application Guide contains over 470 examples of chiral separations by liquid chromatography.
All the applications listed were developed using commercially available compounds, the majority of which have therapeutic properties. These separations are organized in a database that allows search and browse facilities.
The database has been developed to assist analysts in finding the correct DAICEL phase for a chiral separation and hence it includes separations using the new CHIRALPAK® IA, IB, QD-AX and QN-AX columns as well as separations on the more commonly used DAICEL 5 micron (- H series) normal phase and reverse phase columns.

CHIRALPAK® IA The first imobilised amylose column which expands the application coverage of this polysaccharide support and broadens the choice of mobile phases that may be used in chiral chromatography. The extended choice of solvents opens up new possibilities for unique selectivities in the separation of enantiomers, together with enhanced solubility of samples.
CHIRALPAK IC is a new chiral stationary phase (CSP) made by immobilising cellulose tris(3,5-dichlorophenylcarbamate) on silica gel. The chiral selector is distinct from any other commercially available polysaccharide-based CSPs. Apart from its compatibility with the whole series of solvents; this CSP is able to operate under various chromatographic conditions and bring about new characteristics in enantiomeric recognition. It can afford many large and specific enantiomeric separations. It exhibits complementary properties with regard to the existing immobilised chiral packing materials of the same category.
CHIRALPAK® AD The most versatile chiral column available. Use on compounds with aromatic, amide, carbamate, ester groups, alkyl amines, and compounds with multiple stereogenic sites.
CHIRALPAK® AS If no separation is observed on CHIRALPAK AD, this column should be tested second. Particularly appropriate for ß lactams, glycidol derivatives, epoxides, acids, natural products and heterocyclic compounds with a chiral centre on the ring.
CHIRALCEL® OD If CHIRALPAK AD shows some resolution, this column may provide improved separation. Particularly effective for beta blockers, compounds with similar functionality, steroids. Examples: alprenolol, atenolol, flavanone, metoprolol, oxprenolol, pindolol and propranolol.
CHIRALCEL® OJ If CHIRALPAK AS shows an indication of separation then this column should also be evaluated. Particularly appropriate for the following (and compounds with similar structures): ibuprofen, ketamine, methadone, nicotine, steroids, acebutolol, albuterol, chlophedianol, mianserin, and other compounds with a bulky substituent at the chiral centre.
CHIRALCEL® OA Speciality column, particularly if the chemical is a low molecular weight racemate.
CHIRALCEL® OB Test on compounds that show some indication of separation on CHIRALPAK ASA or CHIRALCEL OJ. Examples: benzoin, 1,3 diacetoxybutane 2-acetoxy-3-phenylpropane, a-phenylethanol, 2-phenylcyclohexanone.
CHIRALCEL® OC Speciality column to resolve compounds that show partial resolution on CHIRALPAK AD and/or CHIRALCEL OD.
CHIRALCEL® OF Speciality column to resolve compounds that are not separated on the more versatile "Gold Medal" columns. Especially suited for prostaglandins. Note that this is a very retentive column.
CHIRALCEL® OG Speciality column, especially suited for compounds with partial separation on CHIRALCEL OD and CHIRALCEL OC.
CHIRALCEL® OK Speciality column to resolve compounds that are not separated on the more versatile "Gold Medal" columns. Note that this is a very retentive column.
CHIRALCEL® CA-1 Suitable for compounds with aromatic and carbonyl groups.
CHIRALCEL® OB-H Use to resolve compounds that require higher number of plates than available with CHIRALCEL OB column.
CHIRALCEL® OD-H Use to resolve compounds that require higher number of plates than with CHIRALCEL OD column.
CHIRALCEL® OD-RH Reversed phase type of CHIRALCEL OD. Can be used with neutral, acidic and basic compounds, including verapamil, propranolol, pindolol, diphenylethylamine, and other compounds separated in normal phase on CHIRALCEL OD.
CHIRALCEL® OJ-RH Reversed phase type of CHIRALCEL OJ. Can be used with neutral, acidic and basic compounds, including ibuprofen, flurbiprofen, 1-(1 -naphthyl) ethanol, 1 -(1 -naphthyl) ethylamine, and most of the compounds separated in normal phase on CHIRALCEL OJ.
CROWNPAK® CR Amino acids and compounds with a primary amino group, near an asymmetric center, including dipeptides. The CROWNPAK CR (-) provides reverse order of elution relative to CROWNPAK CR (+).
CHIRALPAK® OP(+) Compounds possessing an aromatic group; Examples: Troger’s base, tocopherol acetate.
CHIRALPAK® OT(+) Compounds possessing an aromatic group; Examples: binaphthol, salithione.
CHIRALPAK® MA(+) a-hydroxy carboxylic acids, a-amino acids.
CHIRALPAK® WE Amino acid derivatives, including alanine, lysine.
CHIRALPAK® WH Amino acid derivatives, including histadine, valine, phenylalanine.
CHIRALPAK® WM Amino acid derivatives.
